In order to be eligible to invest in Hill’s private market opportunities, investors must meet a few regulatory requirements as outlined by the Securities Exchange Commission and FINRA.

Basic Requirements

To get started, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have a United States residential address

  • Complete and pass identity verification checks (KYC)

  • Complete and pass suitability checks

  • Qualify as an accredited investor

What is an accredited investor?

You may qualify as an accredited investor if one or more of the following requirements holds true:

  • Your net worth is over $1 million excluding your primary residence

  • Your income is at least $200,000 annually ($300,000 jointly with spouse) for the past two years, with the expectation of earning the same or more this year

  • You hold certain qualifying professional licenses (like Series 7, 65, or 82)

During onboarding, we’ll walk you through a short questionnaire to determine your status.

Why accredited investors only?

As outlined by the Securities and Exchange Commission, only those who meet the accredited investor standard are able to invest in Hill’s private market investments. This is not determined by Hill; this is a legal requirement from the SEC that governs all private market investors.

What is the suitability assessment?

The suitability assessment is just a couple of questions to help us better understand your investment goals and experience. We do this by asking questions relating to your risk tolerance, investment timeframe, experience level, and liquidity needs. Our goal is to make sure the investments offered on Hill's platform fit your financial and personal circumstances.

Understanding your status

Once you’ve completed identity verification, accreditation, and the suitability check, your profile will be reviewed. Based on the results, you’ll see one of the following:

  • Dashboard Access - You’ve met all the requirements to invest on Hill and can now explore investment opportunities on the platform.

  • Requirements Not Met - You don’t currently meet all the necessary criteria to invest on Hill’s platform.

Why can’t I invest?

If you receive a message saying "Requirements Not Met", you do not meet the regulatory requirements to invest on Hill at this time. This may be due to your accreditation status, suitability assessment, or identity verification. Please note that these checks are required by law. You are always welcome to return if regulations evolve to allow broader access.

If your circumstances have changed and you now qualify as an accredited investor, please reach out to [email protected] and we will assist you with the onboarding flow.
